Öz


Yenidoğan için ideal besin olan anne sütünün sağlanamadığı durumlarda en yakın besini sağlamada önemli bir kaynak, uygun olan diğer bir annenin sütüdür. “Anne Sütü Bankacılığı” (ASB) birçok ülkede çocuk sağlığı politikası ve düzenlemesi ile birleştirilerek, ulusal emzirme politikalarının bir uzantısı olarak korunmakta, geliştirilmekte ve desteklenmektedir. Yenidoğan sağlığı ve beslenmesi için kendi annesinin sütünden sonra en iyi seçenek olan bağışçı annenin sütüdür. Yararları hakkında artan kanıtlara rağmen Türkiye’de gündeme gelen anne sütü bankacılığı uygulaması; etik sorunlar, geleneksel inançlar ve tutumlar, ailelerin bağışçı sütün güvenliği hakkındaki kaygıları ve bilgi yetersizliği nedeniyle tartışmalıdır.

Bu derleme; bağışçı sütü ile ilgili kültürel bakış açıları, yenidoğan üzerindeki etkileri ile dünyadaki ASB’nın amaç ve işleyişi, farklı kültürlerin anne sütü bankalarına yaklaşımları ve Müslüman ülkelerde ve ülkemizde kabul görmesi için önerileri kapsamaktadır.
